TACTICS AND STRATEGIES IN LISTENING
Be well prepared
listening to English texts-audiovisual or audio text is helful to sharpen our instinct to deduce the meaning. It is suggested to listen as much as possible- I used to do this, and it however considers the times. Spend too much time at once will be useless while a regular program will be significant in increasing the instinct.
be fit! You need enoug sleep and meal. relaxation is one alternative to be enjoyable while fresh mind exist.
Be concerned
sometime there are more than one way in beating the test. The one is pay concentration to follow each text issued during the time of listening and the other is instinct itself. It helped me a lot when I thought that one answer was the best choice. It worked. Try!
Be relax
don't panic! You only need to sit and listen carefully. It is the time for you to start beautiful day. Try!

ReplyDeleteBe relax is one of the strategy in listening. I agree with your perception. Because I fell myself when we had listening test in the class and I am in restless condition cause of not only haven't eat any meal, but also tired after doing many activities. I can't do it well.

ReplyDeleteI am Yulia Nur Firdaus (07430430) from PBI-E fifth semester. According to me, listening is not easy. We are constantly trying to stay focused. It is need tactics and strategies. And I agree with your opinion. But I want to add the statement, for example, the first stop talking/be silent. I think that silence is important to use, because when we are listening, we must fill it with our own thoughts in order that we can hear more clearly. And the second, summarize and restate. It is also very useful to summarize what the speaker is saying and restate it in our own words.

i agree with your ideas about tactics and strategies in listening, we have to be prepared, it means we have to prepare ourself with many vocabularies in our mind, without having many vocabularies, we can't guess the meaning, not only vocabularies but also our body has to be fit and fresh.
be concerned, it means we have to pay attention and concentrate in listening,we have to focus it.
be relax, of course, we need it, if doing something by panic, nervous or unfit, our result is bad.
and the addition for me, we have to always listen any kinds of listening such as english songs, films, news etc.
I need your sugestion in developing my listening skill.

I agree with you are statements about tactics and strategeies in listening ,we have to be prepared, be concerned, and be relax but in my opinion everything need proccess, sometimes we dont understand what is the speaker said.., for that we must concentration and have strong intention to understand meaning of the topic , we must have vocabs, becouse without vocabs we can not answer topic in listening and we need to practice more with lisening music, watching movie. etc

I agree that To be a good listener,we have to be prepared, be concerned and be relax and dont forget to memorize much vocabulary, hearing the native speaker speak and the culture of the country that the language we learn. To get that, we can do by hearing west music, watching west movie, much read English book and don't be lazy to memorize vocabulary.Im sure that every person like music and movie. let's change our favorite music and movie by west music and movie....

I also agree with you, but not only that. to have good listening, often listen the people speak English e.g. at the filem or TV program, good attention for the way of pronouncing words in English, alwais practice about pronouncing English word that we get.

I agree with you.Watching TV program can increase my English ability.On monday I watch a news program about lebaran.Lebaran is a specil day for moslems. There are many people shake hands with another and apologize their mistakes after iedul fitri celebration. Some people, chinese, in MAkasar, sulawesi. They believe in our God and they are as a moslems when they was child. They are praying together. They are enclose their cultures, like visiting their neighbours and give AMPAU. although their parents is not a moslem. But they are tolerance. I think its good act. we have different race, tribe, ethnic group, and cultures, we must tolerance, so ourlife is peaceful....

ReplyDeleteTactics and strategies in listening that you have written is good. To reach succeed in listening, we need tactics and strategies like that. But I want to little add. Beside that, we also need self-confidence. It means when you reply given problems, solely be relied on a ability which you own. The second, we need comfortable place. And the last, don't forget to pray to God before doing the test. With praying, our heart will be more be calm and also will add concentration and our confidence.

ReplyDeleteI agreed with your opinion, because I had carried out the strategy time of SMK. And results were quite satisfactory. But also had the additional strategy that is in studying. Occasionally had the person who liked to study in the place that was calm, far from the bustle. There were also those who liked to study in the place that was busy, in fact could both of them simultaneously. That was again important to himself respectively to train instinct himself. However all that needed time and seriousness inside applied this pattern.

I supposed to the way,because they can be a good method in learning listening.. But, when I listened cassette of TOEFL that is enough fast and difficult to understand and that materiel are the important think two of the way..we can be enjoy in learning and listen by that method..but I wonder well get some difficult in learning. My wish in listening learning we have to be slowly but sure in order that enjoy and not to be afraid and doubt to lecturer.

Yes Sir, I agree with you. Because with a good prepared from our self and our thought which is referenced to plus and minus, that will impacted positive, whether from strategies or from our thinking. I'm interested in your tactics and strategies in listening. When I test listening is difficult enough for me, because I can't prepared very well. I feel panic, not confident and speechless. I realize that listening is one of four language skills. "be relax" I like this word. I want to be starting increasing listening skill, slow but sure.

Beside them, I have some opinion to expert or able to listen and speak english well; firstly, believe to myself that i can do it; second, dont worry to speak wrong; third, i try to use talk with partners.

I do agree with some of your tactics. but here I'd like to add some of your tactics, like take some easy and interesting listening material. we start it from songs, movie and short conversation like tunning in the USA. and besides we also we have to do it(listening I mean) over and over again. when we get used to listen more, of course we'll have better listening skill. just like my motto "do more, be more, and get more"

ReplyDeleteI agree with the article that lecture mentioned above because in doing something so that there is need for preparation consep patterns can work with what we want.All suitable at first neglect will produce satisfy results and not much time wasted, one can not always necessary the activity of pause or a short break to refresh mind and so when we start doing activities have ideas of new, more brilliant because of human need entertainment so that saturated in these activities thorough.careful that the words should be applied both in listening to the teching faculty, selected answer in multiple choice questions or other activities with accuracy could reduce the error.

about the subject of that material, I agree with you because it can be improve everything in our mind without stressing in the class,,we can enjoy with our concentration, relax,and etc,,but I'm sorry sir,sometimes when you came in my class,,I felt bored, I don't know but suddenly I felt hot,confused etc...so that depend on our or how?? I often difficulties with the listening progress, that need more concentration,,for your subject about concentration, relax etc is good but I think you have to change teach your style,,,thank you very much...

I agree with your suggests of tactics and strateies in listening.I think listening to English texs audiovisual or audio texs is very useful to increase my ability of English language especially in listening.I like practice
my English ability by hearing the west songs and watching the Hollywood movies. But I always turn up the volume of my tape or TV when I listening the song and watching the movie. Because, in order to I can hear it with clearly.And I always repeat it two or three times.Beside that,practice my English with audio visual or visual can entertain my self. But I'm sorry Sir...infact,I always sleepy and I can't get what you said when you teach in the class.Maybe it causes your voice is low. thank you very much Sir....
