General Description
TOEFL preparation class is designed to help students understand toefl-a kind of test that will be given to students who will study abroad, especially in North America.
Course objectives
Having a well-preparation before taking the test is crucial. Strategies and tactics will be discussed during a 120-minutes lecture to cover practices in listening, grammar and written expression, reading and writing.

Assignments
Write summary about your problem, and let your friends know about it. The problem topics vary from the listening to writing one. Your summary should be collected on the day of the final test (One class one envelope).

I think the Strategies and tactics that will be discussed during a 120-minutes lecture to cover practices in listening, grammar and written expression, reading and writing is very effective for students to learn. But i hope you will give us more explanation about how to increase our skill in English, especially in listening. And i agree with you that TOEFL is very important for student. Because by learn or understand TOEFL, it can help students to be a good or professional in English. May we can get something more from you about TOEFL in this semester. And I'm sure we can improve our skill in TOEFL and in listening with you, because I know you are a good lecturer and very competent in English.

hello sir! firstly i would like to say you "minal a'idin wal faidzin"sir! I agree with your opinion to watch the news and film based on English in 30 minutes than we don't do at all, but according to my mind, it will be better if we can make some summaries of them and we look for the difficult words then we practice it in daily composition wherever and whenever we can do as good as possible. But i need your guidance to make it easier in practicing at least 30 minutes.

ReplyDeleteI agree with you sir! we can improve our skill in listening wherever and whenever although in Lebaran day in thirty minutes there are mny kinds of news and entertainments that can improve our listening skill. There are many holiday film using English. if we listen it seriously we can improve our listening skill and practice it to make conversation with our partner. But if we just listen fast, I don't know we can get it or not, but the important one, if we are not serious to listen it, we will a good chance to improve our listening skill.
According to my mind, listening film in TV is very good to improve our skill to make daily/non formal conversations with our partner but beside that we have to learn TOEFL to make a good conversation grammatically and it can be got in your class. Moreover as a candidate teacher we have to learn and speak English Grammatically,,,,so the summary of my opinion is learning TOEFL and watching English film or news all of them important to improve listening skill.

i agree sir with your opinion. because what we wacth, feel and hear are education. especially to improve our language, another way making summary and practice it in daily conversation are the basic method to improve and make our language fluently.

Sir,I would like to try comment your article,I agree with your opinion about Tactics and Strategies in listening divided to 3 kinds:1.Be well prepared 2.Be concerned 3.Be relax.I think that all good for me to learn English well and help me in the listening.Although I happen know more about Tactics and Strategies in the listening,but I would like to give my reason,Why I agree with your article?..Firstly,be well prepared,I think that's program will be significant in increasing my instinct.Second,be concerned,it's can helped me lot of,when I thought answers to the question and the last be relax,that's can help me to enjoy study in listening English.Maybe that is my comment from your article,and than I would like to study more with you for adding my knowledge about your lecture.And I ask sorry if there are some mistake from me....

ReplyDeleteSir, I would like repeat my comment about one of program of television, because the last comment have not specific, I think.
We can improve our listening skill wherever and whenever, although in Lebaran Day in 30 minutes. In Lebaran Day, there are many kinds of entertainment and newsthat can improve our listening skill. There are many holiday film use English. For example, Stuart Little 2 in Global TV. That film is good for watching by all age; child, tenager, or old. That film is so interesting. The essential of that film is about friendship with believe. Stuart is a good mouse who care to the other. He is very kind and brave to against the crime. Children must be idolize Stuart, so one day they will imitate his attitude, of course good attitude. Children can learn many good attitude from that film. Beside that, the language is simple. It is daily conversation and easy to be understand. It is good for watching by a begginer. It will improve our listening skill.
According to my mind, Listening film in TV is very good to improve our listening skill in conversation with our partner,but beside that we have to learn TOEFL to make good conversation grammaticaly. And it can be gotten in your class . Moreover for a candidate teacher, we have to learn and speak English grammatically. So we have to learn TOEFL and watching English film for daily conversation. Both of them are very important to improve our listening skill.
COMMENT ABOUT TACTIC & STRATEGIES IN LISTENING:
I agree with your opinion about tactic and strategies in listening that you have been submitted; be well prepared, be concerned, and be relax. Certainly, the first preparation is about our healthy. Without healthy, we can not
do anything moreover concentrate to study. So, enough sleep ang meal is needed. If we health, we should use the time for listening to English text audiovisual or audio text. More listen more understand and more easy to deduce the meaning. But we need pay concentration to listen it. When we have TOEFL test, the question just mention once, if we are not concentrate on the question, we will loose a good chance to answer and understand it. So, concentrate and be relax to deduce the meaning.
Much exercise to listen audiovisual or audio text is important to sharpen our instinct to deduce the meaning, but we don't forget to memorize vocabulary. It is the basig. When we listen clearly but we don't know the meaning, I think it useless. But if we have many vocabulary i in our brain, it will relate what we heard with vocab that we have and than we get the meaning.
That's all, thanks for your attention. I'm sorry if I have nistake in my oppinion.

as...this is agus muhibudin from pbi-4 the 5 smstr;i think if you want to know about strategy and improve our listening,everyday we must exercise for listening music in english and always watching television if there is talk show in english.dont be lazy and dont forget always exercise.in metro tv there is good headline news in english every morning.i wan to talk good enogh and then if i have wrong to you i"m sorry and thank u very much.

ReplyDeleteTV news program or film in English version is better than Indonesian language for our who learn English language. Because we can improve our speaking with hear what the native speaker talk about, We can get new vocabulary and get a benefit from that.
